Hunter Lovins invited skilled partners to help her create NCG. The whole idea of taking the concept of Natural Capitalism to
global scale grew out of work that Hunter has been doing for almost three years with the social entrepreneur Walter Link
(that work included co-authoring the paper, Insurmountable Opportunities, Steps and Barriers to Implementing Sustainable
Development, which influenced how the United Nations structured the World Summit on Sustainable Development around
partnerships between businesses, non-governmental organizations, and governments.). So it made sense to create NCG as a
project of The Link Foundation (www.thelinkfoundation.org) , a non-profit foundation created by Walter. Walter is a
social entrepreneur and a former partner in a major European and Southeast Asian industrial group.) He has long been an
expert and pioneer in corporate asocial and environmental responsibility, having helped to found and Chair the Social
Venture Network, Europe, and more recently, Empressa, the leading network of responsible businesses throughout the
Americas. Hunter and Walter continue their work together, speaking at conferences, developing new intellectual
capital for articles and books, consulting and conducting the education work of NCG
